Performance Monitoring System Design
Nonprofit organizations are increasingly interested in building client information and tracking systems that will provide useful information both for internal planning purposes and for external reporting purposes. BTW informing change recognizes this need and has been working with nonprofits to design effective tracking systems. BTW has partnered with information technology specialists to help nonprofits build state-of-the-art information systems where high quality and relevant information can be readily available.
Ongoing & Recent Projects
New Door Ventures
New Door Ventures (NDV) helps at-risk youth prepare for work and life through job training and community building. To align theory with practice, NDV engaged the services of BTW to articulate its organizational theory of change and then develop an outcomes measurement system, appropriately scaled to NDV’s capacity. At the end of this process, NDV staff was equipped with a logical roadmap of their strategies and intended program outcomes, an evaluation plan and data collection tools allowing them to independently evaluate their programs and reflect on NDV’s impact.
Jewish Vocational Services (JVS)
BTW assisted JVS in measuring client progress towards self-sufficiency. BTW worked with a staff management team as well as the JVS Performance Measurement Committee to help JVS define self-sufficiency, develop and refine data collection tools for gathering consistent high quality information and develop an analysis template including graphic presentation for ongoing internal and external reporting.
Rubicon Programs
BTW guided the development of an agency-wide evaluation and monitoring system to help increase Rubicon Programs’ capacity to evaluate and monitor progress for all of its social services, vocational programs and social enterprises. BTW convened a staff working group and led the development of comprehensive intake, follow-up and service encounter instruments. BTW also worked on identifying staffing needs for the implementation and helped develop procedures for administering instruments.
CVE
BTW designed a comprehensive agency-wide client information system for evaluating and monitoring progress for all of CVE's vocational programs and social enterprises. As a primary provider of vocational services to people with mental illnesses, CVE is particularly interested in tracking both vocational outcomes and those related to other factors of emotional and psychosocial stability.
New Conservatory Theater Center (NCTC)
NCTC has been providing educational theatre for children and young adults for more than 25 years and organizationally, maintains a genuine interest in understanding the impact of its work. BTW has provided NCTC with evaluation support for many years, most recently by developing a series of relevant post performance instruments that NCTC staff can administer on their own and analyze the results in an ongoing way.
